The poet, Shin'min Sakamura is familiar to me, but he is not so well-known across the country. His memorial museum is set in the neighboring town of my hometown, Tobe town. He was a high-school teacher in his younger days in the Korean Peninsula which was a part of Japanese territory at that time, and after the war he came back to Japan and lived in my original home, Mikame town. My father and my uncle had lectures from him in their high-school days. His high spirituality was already prominent then and he started to compose poems. Every piece of his works strikes right at the heart of people. Lots of stone tablets inscribed with his poems are found all over the country, nay everywhere in the world. My next overseas trip will be to Vancouver after 4 years' interval and I'll visit a Buddhist Temple in Vancouver, Tozenji, which is located at 209 Jackson St., Coquitlam, BC, V3K 4C1, Canada. Writing this entry, I found a picture in which the tablet is shown. I'll upload it below.
