I read the memoirs of the Vice President of the United States. I opened Google Maps and verified the places mentioned in the book. Hearing about the U.S. typically reminds me of prosperous cities like New York or Los Angeles; thus, the living standards in Appalachia were surprising to me. To my amazement, the vice president had grown up very well despite the adversity he faced. There is a YouTube video depicting the scenery of the area, with numerous derelict houses, allowing viewers to realize the difficult lives that exist in the nation.
