Yesterday was a weekday. I had to work as usual, and moreover their visit was on relatively short notice. If I'd had time for them, I'd like to have shown them around my hometown. My daughter, who was home during her summer vacation, could guide them to only a few tourist attractions. I had to attend a lecture last night and came back home late and so I couldn't talk much with them. It might be because of their modesty that I felt it regrettable that I didn't have enough time. I'm not writing about them in detail, but they were nice people.
They speak Japanese fluently and know a lot about Japan, but I know almost nothing about Hungary; the Hungarian rising and the name of the capital, Budapest, that was all. The man told me that he was born outside present-day Hungary and also talked about the transition of the territory of Hungary. A part of the Ukraine and Romania apparently used to belong to Hungary.
Perhaps someday I'll visit Hungary.
