We drove to the area called Nago and found a monument on the cliff looking down on the Pacific Ocean. It was to honor the deceased young soldiers who were trained to perform suicide attacks to defend the capital of Japan. They were designated to drive a small boat on which a bomb was loaded and rush the military vessels.
I had come across this kind of monument everywhere across the country. Who wanted to wage wars in World War II? No more war! I muttered to myself.
