I'd like to direct your attention to the pictures that follow. They were taken on the way back home from Yamaguchi City on Apr. 27th. I dropped in at a rest area along the highway. Just after I parked and left my car, a cluster of small cars came in the area. Those cars had yellow car license plates, which stands for its displacement being under 660cc. They were small, but convertible, and they were designed as sports cars. The owners of those cars love driving cars and enjoy driving itself. They drive cars not for moving from A to B, but for enjoyment. Lots of people in Japan have such hobbies. It indicates, I think, that Japan still has cultural and economical strength even in the deflation.
Nearly 10 years ago, I had planned to travel around South Korea with my friends by my motorcycle. When I asked a Japanese woman living in South Korea for information about motorcyclists in Korea, she advised us not to use motorcycles, because the transportation condition in South Korea was bad, and up-to-date models of Japanese motorcycles were frequently stolen. I was surprised to hear it and gave up the plan. Looking at this group in the picture, I remembered this advice and I was grateful for peaceful everyday life in Japan.
