Our bus started for another port "Oshidomari" on Rishiri Island, which was connected to Kafuka port on Rebun Island by ferry. I had expected to see the full image of Mt. Rishirifuji on the ferry boat, but its summit was obstructed by a dense cloud.
On Rebun Island, we just went to the north end of the island, but fortunately, we were able to see Kaiba Island, which is called Moneron Island in Russia, and is one of the islands associated with Karafuto Island. It seemed that it's only on a few days a year that you are able to see it with the naked eye. We were really lucky. Most of the scenic places were located on the west coast of the island, but there's no roads for buses. We didn't have enough time to walk around. We had to pass them, and it was regrettable. I'd like to visit the island again to enjoy wandering in the wilderness.
We came back to the port and took a lunch break. The menu was a bowl of rice topped with raw sea urchin just after harvesting without the addition of preserving agents. It was really great. Sea urchin is usually processed with sodium bicarbonate to keep its shape for distribution. However, when eating on Rebun Island, no need for the addition of any agents!
