I visited the Museum of Art, in Ehime with my family to see the exhibition of Sican Culture. I didn't know even the name Sican until the exhibition started in the prefectural museum. Sican is one of the civilizations in ancient Peru. It had been unrecognized until a Japanese researcher started excavating a few decades ago. The researcher found lots of evidence that indicated the existence of an unknown civilization in the northern part of Peru. He devoted himself to research of the Sican civilization, which was named by him.
I was moved to know that a nameless young man went all the way to the U.S., was a member of Southern Illinois University and continued his effort, and finally discovered the 1000-year old long-sealed historical facts.
