An end of year party at a nearby restaurant was scheduled after work yesterday. We got off work on time. Just after changing my clothes, I heard a wail of a siren and an announcement, which informed us of the outbreak of a fire near my hospital and called on all members of the fire-fighting team to gather at the scene.
Opening the window, the wall of the building across the street was stained with a shade of red. The scene was extremely close. I went out of the hospital to grasp the situation immediately and found the fire at a two-layer wooden house adjacent to the parking lot of the hospital. Most staff members had already headed for the restaurant, but they were called back and got ready to evacuate inpatients from their rooms. Besides, some moved their cars to a secure place to escape the fire. All the staff members of my hospital were already in relaxed mode, but were forcibly returned to work mode. Fortunately, the resident in the burning house, who lived alone and was a rather aged woman, was out walking her dog at the time.
I'll show you pictures of the house burning and just before the inspection the next day. The wind was not so hard when the house burned. It was lucky that the fire didn't spread out across the town.
