Mt. Omuro

　　On the way to the east coast of the Izu Peninsula, I happened to pass by a lively place with lots of people and a big parking lot. It was the foot station of the lift to the top of Mt. Omuro. Then, I recalled the words of the owner's wife of the auberge in which I had stayed two years before and would stay this time. She told me, pointing to the top of the mountain, that you can climb up to the top easily by the lift and can enjoy a 360-degree view.
　　Naturally, I went up to the top by the lift. Climbing up on foot was prohibited for the protection of plants on the surface. As soon as I reached the summit, I found its distinctive feature. It had a caldera. The mountain must have been a volcano in ancient times. I got to know about the mountain in detail later, but I walked around the caldera. An archery range was at the bottom of the caldera.

 

大室山

伊豆半島中央部から東海岸の景勝地へ向かっている途中で賑やかな場所を通りかかった。大室山リフト乗り場とある。思い出した。２年前だったか、今日泊まる予定の宿の奥様から、遠くに見える山は『大室山』という山でリフトで簡単に登ることが出来、景色がとても良いと聞いたことを。

で、早速登ってみた。リフトで１０分ほどで山頂に到着。到着してみて驚いた。なんと山頂はくぼんでいて元々は火山だったと思われた。この山のことは後に詳しく知ることになるが、まずは山頂を一周しながら景色を楽しんだ。カルデラの中はアーチェリー場になっていた。
