Overtourism is a big issue now. Due to the weak yen, the number of tourists is soaring. You might think that it's good for Japan's tourism industry. This trend was good for a while for sure. The tourism sectors would be profitable, but now some well-known tourists destinations like Kyoto, Nara, and even small cities are in difficulties.
Some tourists from specific countries don't follow Japan's public policy and make streets or toilets dirty. Souvenir shops usually prepare the samples for tasting at the front of their shops. They are for customers' decision whether to buy or not, but some people claw hold of them, not pinching a bit. Some people are so noisy and behave badly on mass transit.
Japanese tourists have a tendency to avoid those famous sightseeing spots due to the lack of taxis, parking lots, and accommodations.
A picture of Mt.Fuji on the roof of a convenience store became a hot topic. Lots of tourists swarm around the store to take pictures and their acts cause traffic jams and disturb public peace. Recently the local government set a black screen to prevent them from taking pictures, but several holes were made through the screen in a few days. If you are interested in the picture, google it with the keyword of "lawson" and "fuji".
I don't want people without common sense to come to Japan. They should know the proverb; When in Rome, do as Romans do!
