The magnificent view of French River on Prince Edward Island has long been famous in Japan. When I first looked at the scenery in a certain photo magazine related to "Anne of Green Gables" years ago, I wished I could have visited the island. Such a long-awaited spectacle was just in front of me. My wish became a reality. The sky was brilliant without a speck of cloud and a comfortable sea breeze cooled my body.
Viewing the opposite hillside across the inlet, I murmured that the tilt of the hill would be nice for skiing. Instantly, my idea was denied by native people, saying "You would never feel like skiing here in winter. Everything becomes white and the inlet freezes solid. People don't want to go out of the house." Their words reminded me of the latitude of the island. However, I'm a man of curiosity. I wish I could visit the island again in the winter season.
I have to add one thing. The parking area where we parked the car was offered free by the landowner as a sign of goodwill. The landowner must have had to give up the crop from the observatory area. I'm really thankful to the landowner. I wanted to throw myself down on the grass for some time, but we didn't have enough time to do so. We headed for the museum after a short rest.
