We climbed up the dead track and reached the end of a small canal, which connects Biwako Lake and Kyoto. The dead track seemed to have been utilized to lift boats to the surface of the canal. This canal was built as the solution of water shortage in Kyoto, and it was apparently also used as the route of transportation of commodities. The former logistics or distribution route is now open to visitors. You can travel on the canal in a boat. When I reached the canal end, a small sightseeing boat was about to start. I wanted to get on the boat someday. The last picture shows a small scale hydroelectric power station. This facility is also run by the water from Biwako Lake.
