Climbing up Diamond Head was the second time for me, but it was new to my friends. Unlike the last time, we were required to reserve the admission of the park and pay $5 each. I'm not sure, but it might be for the purpose of the reduction of congestion on the climbing path as one of the protective measures against Covid 19. As we expected, there were lots of tourists climbing up and down, and staying on its summit. We could see far into the distance from the summit. The boundless prospect was indescribably great! It was perfectly understandable from its caldera formation that Diamond Head used to be an active volcano.
Only looking from Waikiki beach, you wouldn't notice its volcanic origin, but if you stand on its summit, you'd surely realize the formation process of the mountain. We were stranded by the comfortable breeze blowing in the midst of the Pacific Ocean.
