I'm going to write about the nursing assistants of military medics in this entry. The Japanese Government had quickly and newly produced nursing staff along with military medics during the war. They were recruited mainly from female teenagers. I visited one of the monuments for these nursing staff.
According to the information board, after the invasion of the Allied forces, they accompanied wounded soldiers and non-armed citizens, evacuating to the north of the island, where the enemy was sparse. However, the groups with wounded or exhausted people were slow. Almost all of them were killed or missing. The monument which I'll show you below was built by their juniors, relatives, and their school officials. Their places of death aren't even now identified.
