Two anglers were fishing something at the yacht harbor and I chatted with them for a while. I was disappointed with my listening ability for English in the Cotswolds in the U.K. last autumn, and I was afraid that I would not be able to communicate with them, but they talked slowly for me, and the communication was perfect. The yacht harbor looked off limits to the public, but it looks like anyone can step in until 8 o'clock. Their target was sardines. One of them was using a Japanese sabiki, and the other nothing, just only a hook. It was glittering under the morning sun and it might take a jiggle-fishing like role. Their catch were so-so. Each was catching one per 5 minutes though I felt that it would be smarter to use a landing net. Take a look at the following pictures, and you will be sure to think so.
I asked them how to cook sardines, but their real target was not sardines. They are going to aim for bigger fishes at the tip of the breakwater over there, but sardines were also edible. My rods might be in my luggage next year or rather a fish net? Anyway, it's not bad to eat deep-fried or grilled sardines landed in Waikiki over beer in my condo next year.
